Submissions

Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify that their submission complies with all of the following requirements. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned to the authors.

  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the editor).
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references (APA Standards, 7th edition).
  • The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic requirements included in the Guidelines for Contributors.
  • Comply with all structural elements stated in the regulations.

General considerations

The journal states that submissions must be ORIGINAL and UNPUBLISHED, and not be under consideration for publication in other journals or publications. Manuscripts must be of scientific quality and use clear and precise language, defining technical terms to enable comprehension by readers from other fields and with different academic backgrounds. It is important to note that the journal focuses on educational research, so its readership is very broad.

The journal considers for publication works in the field of education and related disciplines, resulting from research such as scientific articles, essays, short communications written by authors of recognized standing, and bibliographic reviews whose purpose is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

The following sections must be in Spanish and English: title, abstract, keywords, table and figure titles. Figures (images, graphs, concept maps, etc.), in addition to being inserted at the end of the text, must be sent in separate files in jpg format at 300 dpi or higher, and the editable file must be attached.

The author is responsible for the correct wording in each section of the manuscript.

Guidelines for authors

The number of authors of the manuscript must be consistent with the quality and quantity of work performed and presented. An unjustifiable excess of authors is grounds for rejection.

The manuscript must include the author information on a separate sheet indicating: the full names of the authors (avoiding the use of initials; paternal and maternal surnames will be linked with a short hyphen).

The affiliation of the corresponding author should be listed in the following order: institutional affiliation (public or private), faculty, institute or research center, city, state, country, and email address for correspondence.

The details of the other authors will follow this order: institutional affiliation (public or private); faculty, institute, or research center, city, state, and country.

All authors must include their Conahcyt CVU number, ORCID iD, and SNII level, if applicable.

Evaluation and monitoring process

The process of evaluating and accepting research takes approximately 45 to 60 days, taking as a reference point the receipt of the research (manuscript), preliminary evaluation by the committee (examining scientific relevance and suitability for the journal's areas of focus), plagiarism checks applied to research before it is sent to reviewers, selection of reviewers, and the response time of evaluators. Once the corresponding ruling on the investigation has been obtained, the author(s) is/are notified of the results obtained. It should be noted that the evaluation process may be shorter or longer, depending on the availability of arbitrators, as well as other factors that may influence the process.

Authors must address all comments and suggestions made during the review process and follow-up, marking changes made to the final manuscript in red (it is necessary to work on the same Word document sent to you each time).

Types of manuscripts

The Revista CIE  considers the following types of manuscripts for publication:

Article: a specific monographic research paper, preferably the partial or final result of a research project, highlighting reflective and critical argumentation on theoretical and/or practical, methodological and/or epistemological issues related to the topic and area of study explored. The minimum length shall be 13 pages and shall not exceed 20 pages, including bibliographical references.

Systematic literature review: this is a collaborative effort that updates the current bibliography, compiling the main results of national and international research in the form of an individual or collective book. It highlights critical analysis at various levels (theoretical, methodological, epistemic, political, social, among others) where the impact of research can be demonstrated. The minimum length shall be 10 pages and shall not exceed 20 pages, including bibliographical references.

For systematic literature review studies, the minimum number of bibliographic references shall be 30. These studies must come from: Web of Science, Scopus, or recognized indexers. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in exclusion from the evaluation and publication process.

Organization of defined sections and subsections (mandatory)

Articles must contain: Introduction (including methodology, if brief, otherwise in a separate section) that motivates and justifies conducting this research, stating the objective of the study, Theoretical basis: different points and sub-points (each section must be numbered consecutively, there should be no significant differences in size between the points, titles should be written in bold, on the left and in lowercase, only the first letter of the first word capitalized), Methods, Results and discussion, Conclusions, Notes (if applicable, few) and Bibliographic references (cited in the text, in accordance with APA 7th edition standards).

Bibliographic references

The Revista CIE  has adopted the American Psychological Association (APA) style as the international standard for this section, which is widely accepted at the regional, national, and international levels. See https://apastyle.apa.org/

The bibliography cited must be relevant, up to date, and strictly referenced in the text, no more than 5 years old.

  1. You must maintain the APA 7th edition style, inserted in the text with emphasis on the author: Santos (2019) states that...; based on the text (Santos, 2019). When the reference is made verbatim, based on the author: Santos (2019) states: “The quoted text” (p.24). Based on the text: “the quoted text” (Santos, 2019, p.24). If the quotation is longer than 40 words, it should be written separately from the text, indented, without quotation marks or italics. The previous style is followed depending on whether the emphasis is on the text: the quotation is placed separately. (Santos, 2019, p.24); or in the author: Santos (2019) states that: apart from the above quotation. (p.24)
  2. According to authors' numbers: If there are two, their last names are separated by “and.” For three to five authors, the first time they are cited, the last names of all authors are indicated. Subsequently, only the first author is cited and “et al.” is added, followed by a period (et al.). When there are six or more authors, cite the surname of the first author followed by et al. from the first citation onwards.
  3. In the case of a corporate author, the name of the organization is used instead of the last name. The first time the full name is mentioned, the acronym is indicated in parentheses. Hereinafter, it is referred to only by its acronym. Bank of Mexico (BM, 2019).
  4. When paragraphs are written that expand upon or explain the content of the text, they should be marked with an index (1) and placed after the conclusions and before the bibliographical references under the heading “Notes.” Only include those that are strictly relevant to an accurate understanding of the work.

All authors cited in the body of a text or work must match the list of references at the end. An author who has not been cited in the text should never be referenced, and vice versa. The list of references is organized in alphabetical order, and each reference must be indented. When referencing numbers or volumes of a publication, Arabic numerals must be used, not Roman numerals.
